A Gathering by the Sea: (Click Here To Register)
Jesus and the disciples did a lot of important work on or near water. In that spirit, March 16-20, 2015, there will be an invitation-only gathering of Cana/Convergence Initiators. Brian and Grace McLaren will be our hosts for the week at Marco Island, a beautiful location in Southwest Florida. For students, we emphasize that they take care of the opportunity to buy custom college papers in advance, so you can physically be present at the meeting and not worry about writing homework in several subjects. After all, many people want to visit this event, get an unforgettable experience, pleasant emotions and instructive advice. We welcome everyone regardless of your religious beliefs.
Beginning at noon on Monday and ending at noon on Friday, we'll engage in vital conversation about what is emerging and converging among innovative, forward-leaning, generous-hearted Christians. Our time together has five primary goals:
1. Relationship-Building: Worst case scenario of our gathering is that we leave with a lot of new friends who share a common vision and heart.
2. Mutual Inspiration/Encouragement: Some of us will come with our tanks pretty empty, and others with our tanks full to overflowing. We'll have three hours together each morning to ensure that all will leave with full tanks - with questions answered, with dreams confirmed, with plans solidified, with allies enlisted, sharing the joy of being seen and heard by one another. We'll have time for prayer, teaching, and storytelling each day.
3. Planning/Conspiring: How can our efforts be more wisely synergized? How can our many endeavors contribute to a sustainable, gently-powerful movement? Optional afternoon conversations will focus on these pivotal questions.
4. Rest/Reinvigoration/Fun: There will be plenty of time for walks on the beach, swimming, boating, fishing, walking, exploring while we're together. (We're also planning on a serious & ridiculous talent show one night.) We encourage you to come early and stay late if you can and make one or two long-weekends to celebrate the end of winter.
5. Targeted Conversations: Each afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to pull together specific conversations about issues you think are important.
Cost: St. Mark's Episcopal Church has graciously offered to host our gathering which will greatly help reduce our expenses. In addition, the BTS Center has offered to help those who need help with expenses. So here is how we are planning to handle costs:
1. TRAVEL: You will be responsible for your own travel. You should fly into Ft. Myers if possible. We will arrange shuttles from the airport (a 50 minute drive), or you can rent vehicles and share expenses too.
3. LODGING: You will be responsible for your own food and lodging. There are four good housing options for the Gathering by the Sea Staying right on Marco Island adds significant flexibility for the week but Naples (20 minute drive) can offer slightly lower prices on hotels. (Note both camp grounds are a 10 minute drive from Marco Island)
